As an imperial city of the United Republic, Silverkeep's head of state is the Lord Protector of the United Republic and the head of government is the First Blade.
The country is ruled as a stratocracy, with the most capable military commanders dictating all forms of governance.
History
Due to it's near-total impregnability, silverkeep-island was a key strategic location during the wars-of-consolidation. A rebellious branch of the Midborne military managed to base there, and declared their own independent republic.
Due to their low population and land, the newly-formed Silverkeep Stratocracy was eventually forced to submit to a long siege by Ironborne forces, and were allowed to keep the island on the condition that they became an imperial city of the newly-emerging United Republic.
